Our Sink Journey

OUR STORY

In 2009, after a 15-year stint with the most prominent sink manufacturer and importer in South Africa, Gerhard Kotzee continued his career path by joining one of the biggest wholesale distributors in Africa for another 8 years before starting his own business in 2016.

In 2019, in his capacity as Investor and Business Development Manager for Dabar Energy, during a visit to a previous sink competitor’s premises, the opportunity to purchase their Italian- produced sink manufacturing equipment was identified and done.

Gerhard and his partner at Dabar Energy, decided to buy over the state-of-the-art equipment in partnership with two Zimbabwean brothers Guy and Patrick Devenish. This was the start of becoming a credible player in the kitchen sink manufacturing market in Africa. And so, the launch of African Sinks soon followed in 2020.

OUR STORY

In 2009, after a 15-year stint with the most prominent sink manufacturer and importer in South Africa, Gerhard Kotzee continued his career path by joining one of the biggest wholesale distributors in Africa for another 8 years.

During 2019, in his capacity as investor and Business Development Manager for Dabar Energy, during a visit to a previous competitor’s premises, he came across their unutilised Italian sink manufacturing equipment.

Gerhard and his partner at Dabar Energy, decided to buy over the state of the art equipment to resell for a profit. After unsuccessfully pitching the sale to 7 industry leaders, he met Zimbabwean brothers Guy and Patrick Devenish, with whom he struck a deal to become a credible and profitable second player in the kitchen sink manufacturing market in Africa. And so, the launch of African Sinks (PTY) Ltd. soon followed.

OUR DIFFERENCE

1
There is currently only one other local sink manufacturer in South Africa (but they also import goods from other world-wide factories).
2
Other players in the market are all importers.
3
Our vision is to provide great service with a cost base that is not fully exposed to the exchange rate.
4
Our product range is manufactured from top-quality stainless steel which provides the best options for a pleasing presentation and life-time durability.
5
African Sinks will be a fully local manufacturer of sinks and intends to become a credible player in the sink industry in South Africa that offers great service (through teamwork and partnerships), value for money, and ultimately:
